Menuro vs Owner.com, ChowNow, Square Online & Toast.

All five let a Canadian restaurant take online orders without the 25–30% commissions delivery apps charge. They differ in what you pay each month, whether fees are added to your customers' orders, whether you get your own app, and whether loyalty and SMS marketing are included. Here's the side-by-side, with sources.

Menuro vs Owner.com

The closest match — minus the diner fee.

Owner.com and Menuro both give independent restaurants a website, online ordering, a branded app and loyalty. Owner.com publishes two Canadian plans: Flexible at C$349/month plus 5% of each order, and Flat Rate at C$699/month. On both plans, your customers also pay a 5% "order support fee" at checkout. SMS marketing isn't available to Canadian restaurants yet.

Choose Owner.com if you want a published flat price and email marketing is enough. Choose Menuro if you want a lower starting price (from C$49/month), no fees added to your customers' orders, or SMS and push campaigns in Canada today.

Menuro vs ChowNow

Similar features, different terms.

ChowNow includes a branded app and loyalty on every plan, with monthly plans from $249 to $449 plus a $119–$499 setup fee and a $99/year Apple developer fee for the app. SMS credits come with the Grow and Elevate plans. Its restaurant agreement adds a $0.99 service charge to each direct order unless you opt out, renews automatically, and needs 30 days' notice to cancel. ChowNow also runs a consumer marketplace app that can send you new customers.

Choose ChowNow if you want exposure on its marketplace app and a long list of POS integrations. Choose Menuro if you want month-to-month terms, plans from C$49/month, and a team that sets everything up for you in 2–3 days.

Menuro vs Square Online

Cheapest to start, if you're on Square.

Square Online has a free plan and the lowest published card rate here (2.8% + 30¢, or 2.5% on Premium). It runs on Square payments and syncs with Square POS. You build the website yourself with Square's templates. There's no native app — customers can save a site icon to their home screen — and loyalty (from $60/month per location) and marketing (from $20/month) are add-ons. Square's Canadian pages conflict on whether text-message campaigns are available.

Choose Square Online if you're already on Square and want the lowest cost to get started. Choose Menuro if you want an SEO website built for you and an app in the App Store and Google Play under your name, with loyalty and SMS working together to bring customers back. Menuro also works with Square POS.

Menuro vs Toast

A full POS, with Canadian gaps.

Toast is a complete restaurant POS — from C$120/month in Canada — with online ordering and loyalty as add-ons that run on Toast POS and Toast hardware. Its branded app is currently for US restaurants only, and its Canadian marketing product lists email only. Toast doesn't publish its card rates or contract terms.

Choose Toast if you're replacing your whole POS and kitchen setup. Choose Menuro if you want to keep your current POS — Menuro works with Toast, Square and Clover — and add your own app, loyalty and SMS on top.
